We believe we have the most incredible lineup of vendors participating at the 2013 Expo. In fact, we’re so proud of them, we want everyone to know more about who they are and how their business fits in to the Expo’s passion for seeing Ottawa the healthiest city in Canada. We recently sent our vendors a list of four questions. Between now and the Expo, we will be highlighting some of these amazing vendors. Watch our blog every Tuesday & Saturday morning for another vendor spotlight.
Who am you?
I’m a personal trainer, but I have lived a less than healthy life style in the past. In my early twenties, I was 8 dress sizes larger & smoked a package of cigarettes a day. My life changed thanks to a dear friend who insisted I go with her to an aerobics class. I’m grateful that she finally convinced me to go. I started group classes and never looked back. Since then, I’ve earned a purple belt in Karate and placed in several competitions. I taught cardio kick boxing classes at the Karate studio. Earlier this year, I placed first in the Grand Masters Ottawa OPA Ms.Figure competition. I have two teenage boys that keep me busy (and worried sometimes – lol). At age 49, I’m in the best shape of my life… physically, mentally and spiritually.
How long have you been in business?
I’ve been a certified personal trainer for 4 years. Prior to 2010, I held a middle management position at a large financial institute. I left the corporate world in Nov of 2010 & opened my private training studio in Orleans. I carry certifications in nutrition and functional movement. I’ve filled my schedule and am loving every minute of it!
What is your business all about?
My job is to help you build a more confident, more empowered, stronger version of your current self. My greatest accomplishment is when I client says: I’m at a point in my life where I love my body, there are some parts I’d like to change, but I work at it so I still feel good. I get goose bumps when a client reaches their goal which are as varied as individuals themselves: staying out of the cookie jar for 1 week, doing a military push-up, bench pressing their own weight, doing 5 pull-ups or walking without pain. I’m here to help you to attain your health goal, whatever that might be.
The Expo focuses on four themes: be fit, eat right, think well, go green. Which of these does your business incorporate?
Be Fit – Learn to move, exercise and love the empowerment it gives you.
Eat right – Detoxify your body, eat healthy, manage your hormones and increase your energy.
Think Well – Deal with emotions….. & stop eating them. Learn to love yourself. Enjoy your journey to a healthier life style & all of your other wishes will come true.
